Hello Creatives

Hello Creatives

Hello!

Wondering what this site is all about? You’re in the right place. There’s only so much I can include in an About page and this site will evolve over time so I’ll post here periodically. You’re probably a busy person so I’ll keep it short.

I made this site and all this stuff for you.

Well, not at first. I made the first product for myself — the FPO hat. I don’t know how the idea came to me but when it did it made me chuckle. And it made designers in creative review meetings chuckle too, which was even better. We all need a giggle break in our day. I’d make jokes about what the hat was holding a place for — a good hair day, a better haircut, a crown.

And every now and then someone in the outside world would either point and giggle (in a good way) and we’d give each other the secret graphic designer nod and feel like we’d made a connection with someone who understands where all our gray hair came from: clients.

Other times someone would ask what FPO means and I’d get to explain that I’m a graphic designer and they’d be mildly impressed, which is always nice. We all need to feel seen and appreciated.

Then I listed the FPO hat on Etsy so that other designers could have this nice feeling too — being seen, finding community out in the world, wearing something besides someone else’s logo. As a logo designer it’s funny how much I don’t want to wear anyone else’s logos. Nike does not need me to advertise for them. And frankly, sometimes they disappoint me so why I am walking around giving them free exposure? Why should anyone?

So, I made the FPO hat and all the other things for you. And now you can have something that lets people know a little something about you.

And maybe that something can start a conversation. Not about me or my brand because it’s not about me.

You’ll get to tell your story.

Maybe it’s like this: I’m a writer and I’m working on a novel.

Or this: I’m on an improv team. Come see our show!

Or: I’m a designer. Do you want to hear about my recurring kerning nightmare?

It doesn’t have to be a lot. A little connection can go a long way.

Or maybe it will just make someone chuckle. Maybe just you. And that’s enough. Because I made this for you.

If you’ve gotten something from us (the corporate us) and have a story to share, comment below. Or if you have any other thoughts let me know.
