We don't deserve so many emails

We don't deserve so many emails

We deserve inbox peace. You and me.

I've been reading a lot of business and marketing advice lately and one thing I keep hearing about is email marketing. There are email templates for every occasion and every non-occasion. An email when you visit and don't purchase. An email when you put something in your cart and don't purchase. An email when you purchase. An email when you haven't visited in 30, 60, 90 days. Emails when there's new products. Emails when products are on sale. Emails, email, emails.

The prevailing wisdom says I should be emailing you all 3 times a week in addition to the automated emails around purchasing. Here's the problem — NOBODY WANTS THAT.

You don't want that and I don't want that. It's annoying for everyone involved.

The argument is that emails need to reach someone when they have a reason to buy. A friend's birthday coming up, a gift giving holiday etc. It makes some sense. I still don't want to do it.

Here's what I'd rather have — an email list so large that I only have to send an email once a week to find someone who is in need of what I have to offer. That's it. With a large enough audience my odds of finding someone who needs a YES AND mug go up.

Here's how we can achieve that, you and me. You know creative people. Somewhere in your life there is a writer, a designer, an actor or someone who has taken an improv class. Send them this site and encourage them to sign up for the email list and get an automatic discount. That's it.

I'll send one email per week so we can stay in touch.

And if you really, really hate emails, I understand. If you like the site but you need to unsubscribe for your mental health, bookmark us under "Gift Ideas" in your browser and come back when you need us. We'll be here, if all goes well.

My goal is to get a 1,000 email subscribers/Creative Insiders by June 1. I'm at 250. Long way to go, but I believe in us and I believe in Hello Creatives.
